I am resolute!

Do you do New Year’s Resolutions? I do sometimes, but generally not with much fervour.

That being said, while I sympathise with the view that you shouldn’t need a specific day to set yourself some goals, I do like the idea that all of us are pausing at the same time to reflect on the past year and plan for the future. Cultural milestones like New Years are important as they act as reminders to focus on all the nitty gritty life stuff that unites us as individuals within a broader community. It makes everything feel more achievable and optimistic knowing others are setting goals alongside you (even if you know that success rates for resolutions made at this time of year are ridiculously low…).

I have three resolutions for 2015:

1. Stop researching things. I do know my shit well enough for now! I need to consolidate my knowledge and actually start applying things instead. With that in mind, I intend to pick one or two resources for each area of my life that needs improvement and use them to guide my progress (really focussing in on one area at a time).

2. Work on my goal-setting fu. My approach thus far has been haphazard and sloppy and totally ineffectual. Not acceptable! I know I can do so much better.

3. Get rid of all the cardboard boxes in my house by the end of the year. I am definitely still not interested in going full minimalist but that doesn’t mean chaos is ok. I want “a place for everything and everything in its place.” That means systematically sorting through the random boxes of stuff piled high in two of my rooms. The goal is one box a week. More is great if I can manage it (pretty sure I’ve got more than 52 boxes so hopefully I can do more!), but one box each week is the bare minimum. I can totally achieve that.

My head is in a good place right now. Here’s hoping I can make it stick around!!

How is 2015 looking for you?

    1. Seriously, we’ve been in this house for four years now. The amount of boxes that never got unpacked is just embarrassing. And much as part of me would like to get rid of them unopened I just know I’d fixate on them for the rest of my life if I did that. :3

  1. Setting goals is the thing, even better if made manageable, I set out my mission statement (a life worth living)for the year, it’s made me calmer and also really think about everything with more clarity, also to change the thinking where necessary.

Look forward to reading about your achievements this yeargood luck:)

Also check out my latest blog I’ve nominated you for an award, hows that to kick start the new year /
